I GIVE UP MOZILLA! And they wonder why their market share is dwindling. I can see my extensions/add-ons in the toolbar, but it won't load any pages, including. So according to Mozilla, I have at least 6 weeks until they break my machine again.ĮDIT: Oops. And every solution out there is defective (or can't be accomplished because I can't boot firefox). I cannot get any new or old version of firefox to boot due to "My profile is missing or inaccessible". And no matter how much editing of profiles.ini and other outdated trickery out there on the net I try (I blame Mozzlla for all that ever-changing information that litters the net - even on their OWN site). In the meantime I had moved around the location of my profile folder. But Moziila claims it's just not possible anymore (yet they provide a startup switch for it, duh). It really would have been THAT easy? That literally took 2 seconds. Or whatever tool(s) can I use to do this.

Where are all the version numbers I need to edit to allow the latest ESR to start up using the Aug 17rth release Windows 10/X64 "profile format". But I'm at a loss now and I can't spend 2 days rebuilding my profile from scratch. So I thought the ESR channel would be the way to go and I could fool it into accepting my "old" profile.
That's a bigger b*ch to stop upgrades - they REALLY hate that. I've read plenty of the developer threads and its clear that many of them have become completely ungrounded from the reality of the actual user experience. And Now? When our computers are hosed and we have no functional browser and it's hosing the whole machine we can't revert without losing all our important preferences and add-ons/extensions from our profiles!?!?!! I'd much rather be "vulnerable" than having to deal with all the quirks of these damned forced upgrades.
And that lasts for 5-10 minutes at a time.

I can't now because I have no functional version of Firefox installed except for ESR with a blank profile.Įvery time I upgrade after weeks of harassing's messages, I finally cave in and I regret it EVERY TIME!!! The last two versions just randomly out of the blue I can only type 4 letters at a time with stalls of 5-7 seconds between each set, with my CPU pegged at about 95% and I'm down to swapping.

Update will be deployed via SCCM and a PowerShell script. You can delete my history and start from scratch and I have plenty of ways to get by bookmarks back. I am trying to update Firefox to 78.2 ESR at my organization as well as change from autoconfig.js and mozilla.cfg based configuration (used in Firefox 68 ESR and earlier) to policies.json based configuration with Firefox 78.x ESR. I don't care if bookmarks and history get corrupted.
